Steer Davies Gleave is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Collinson as a Director based in our UK business.
Andy will lead the widening of engineering support to SDG’s existing and new rail clients and will lead the development of SDG’s rail infrastructure asset management capabilities.
Examples of Andy’s wide experience include High Speed Rail as design manager for HS1’s eastern section; heavy rail as the project director for CDL’s 10-year asset management commission for Heathrow Express; and light rail as GHD’s design project manager for Education City LRT in Qatar.
From 2001 to 2003 Andrew was the Office of the Rail Regulator’s lead advisor on asset knowledge management, responsible to the ORR Board for appraisal of Railtrack’s recovery efforts. Most recently he led the development of the Northern franchise’s train lengthening enabling strategy, deploying platform lengthening and innovative use of the next generation of automatic selective door opening technology.
In 2001 Andy co-founded (with John Dutton) CDL, a successful rail consultancy that provided services to rail clients in the UK, Australia and New Zealand in areas including Rail Engineering, Asset Management, Project and Change Management and Transport Strategy and Planning. CDL successfully merged with GHD in 2011 and Andy became GHD’s Business Leader for Rail Europe and the Middle East before joining SDG.
Jim Richards, Head of UK Advisory at Steer Davies Gleave said “We are delighted to welcome Andy to SDG. He brings over 34 years’ of industry knowledge, predominantly in the Rail sector, adding significant experience to our already great team”.
