Steer Davies Gleave’s Jim Steer has been appointed to London’s independent West End Commission. He joins 12 other experts, comprising representatives and of businesses and residents, who will consider the West End’s future and make recommendations to various bodies for its management and development. As the Commission’s transport expert, Jim will play an important role, linking with the wider development issues that the Commission must address.
London’s West End contains the primary retail centre, the most successful theatre district worldwide, and encompasses the centres of State and Parliamentary buildings and the central London residence of the Royal Family.
Chaired by Sir Howard Bernstein, the commission is a new body set up to preserve the unique qualities of London’s West End and to ensure its future success locally, nationally and internationally. Its task is to assess and take action to further develop the economic value of the West End to London, along with its governance measures.
