Steer at Shenergy – Empowering Women in Energy and Infrastructure

On Thursday, 6th March, Steer was honoured to participate in the Shenergy event, organised in collaboration by the British Embassy Mexico City and JLL Mexico, under the theme "Always a Pioneer, Never an Impostor."

This event was held in celebration of International Women's Day, to promote female leadership and the active participation of women in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

The morning began with a breakfast hosted by Ambassador Susannah Goshko, followed by an engaging roundtable discussion moderated by Ruth Corona. During the roundtable, a group of prominent professionals, including Lourdes López Zuckermann, Lorena Fuertes, Pamela Desentis Martinez Lastra, Grecia Pérez Calderón and Silvia Mejia Reza, from our Mexico office, shared strategies and experiences on how to achieve a balance between personal and professional life, as well as the challenges faced in sectors historically dominated by men.

Some key points highlighted included:

  • The importance of recognition based on experience, responsibility, and expertise.
  • The need for support networks to balance caregiving and work duties.
  • The significance of creating personal spaces for self-development.
  • Being generous with oneself, as sometimes we demand too much to fulfil daily responsibilities.

This event served as a reminder of the importance of recognising women's achievements and valuing their contributions in their work sectors.

We congratulate Silvia Mejía Reza and all the participants for their success and valuable contributions. Let’s continue paving the way and breaking barriers for future generations of women leaders! 💪✨
